Dinner Debater – AI Food Picker & Meal Roast
Settle mealtime arguments with witty AI roasts and randomized dinner selections.
An AI that argues with your dinner choice
Every household has the same conversation: "what do you want to eat?" followed by "I don't mind" followed by nothing being decided. The Dinner Debater takes the options you are considering and picks one — then tells you, in the voice of a chef with no patience left, exactly what it thinks of the alternatives. It is a food picker with an opinion.
How it works
- Enter the meals or restaurants actually in play — the real contenders, not an exhaustive list.
- The wheel spins and lands on one.
- The chosen option is announced alongside a short AI-written comment on it and on what you rejected, delivered in character.
- Accept the result, or spin again with a narrower set of options.
Why the commentary matters
A plain picker gives you an answer you can ignore. The commentary makes the answer social: it says the quiet part out loud about the option you were both avoiding, or mocks the takeaway you were going to default to anyway. That is enough friction to get a decision made, which is the only real problem in the first place. It also makes the tool worth opening for its own sake rather than as a last resort.
Getting better results
- **Use real options.** Four actual contenders beat a list of twelve things nobody wants.
- **Include the default.** If you know you will end up ordering pizza, put pizza on the wheel. Half the value is seeing it defended or dismantled.
- **Keep the list short.** The roast lands harder when the alternatives are specific — "leftover pasta again" rather than a generic category.
- **Fairness note.** The pick itself is random. The opinion is generated and is meant to be funny, not authoritative — it is not advice about food safety, diet or nutrition.
When a plain food wheel is the better tool
If you genuinely do not care and just need a result — a group of six, a takeaway, nobody with strong views — a plain what-to-eat wheel is faster and quieter. The Debater is for the case where the problem is that nobody will commit, and a bit of mockery is what unblocks it.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Dinner Debater do?
It picks a meal from the options you give it, then generates a short, in-character comment on your choice and the ones you rejected. It is a food picker with commentary.
Is the pick random?
Yes, the selection is random. Only the written commentary is AI-generated, and it is written to be entertaining rather than to give genuine food advice.
Is the commentary serious advice?
No. It is a joke, written in the voice of an impatient chef. Do not treat anything it says as nutrition, dietary or food-safety guidance.
How many options should I add?
Three to six real contenders works best. A long list of categories produces a generic result and a weaker joke.
