Mystery Wheel – Spin Blind, Reveal the Result
A normal wheel shows you every option and lets you watch the answer approach. Mystery mode does the opposite: the segments stay unlabelled until the wheel stops, and the outcome arrives all at once. It is the difference between watching a race and opening an envelope.
How to Use the Mystery Wheel
- Edit the wheel and enter the real options — prizes, dares, prompts, whatever the wheel is deciding.
- Turn on Mystery Mode in the menu bar. The segment labels are hidden on the wheel.
- Spin. Because you cannot see what is coming, the slowdown does not leak the answer.
- The result is revealed when the wheel stops, then again in the winner dialog so nobody misses it.
- Turn mystery mode off to check or edit the contents.
Why Use the Mystery Wheel
- Keeps the reveal intact — ordinary wheels telegraph the outcome as the wheel slows down.
- Turns a selection into a moment, which is what makes it work for streams, parties and classrooms.
- Useful for testing: participants cannot bias their choices towards a segment they can see.
- The same wheel can run in normal mode for you and mystery mode for the audience.
Why hiding the labels changes the experience
On a normal wheel the audience reads the segments, tracks the wheel, and knows the answer a second or two before it stops. That is fine for a fair draw, but it drains the suspense. With the labels hidden, nobody can predict the landing, so the reveal happens exactly when the wheel stops — for the host as much as the audience. That single change is the difference between a selection and an event.
Good uses for a mystery wheel
- Stream giveaways: entrants cannot see which segment is which, so there is nothing to game and the reveal is genuinely watchable.
- Surprise prizes: wrap corresponding prizes behind unlabelled segments so the wheel announces the prize rather than the audience pre-reading it.
- Party games: dares, forfeits and prompts land harder when they arrive unannounced.
- Classroom activities: useful when you want a task assigned without a student steering towards a preferred one.
- Blind testing: when you are comparing options and do not want to know which is which until the choice is made.
Keeping it honest
Mystery mode hides labels from the viewer; it does not change the odds. If you need to prove a draw was fair, set the wheel up in normal mode with the options visible, or save the wheel so the setup can be inspected before and after. Mystery mode is a presentation choice, not a fairness mechanism, and the two should not be confused when money or prizes are involved.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does mystery mode do?
It hides the segment labels on the wheel. The options stay in place and the odds are unchanged, but nobody can read the outcome before the wheel stops.
Does mystery mode change the odds?
No. The same segments are used with the same weighting. Hiding the labels is purely a presentation change.
Can I see the options while mystery mode is on?
Yes — switch mystery mode off in the menu bar to inspect or edit the wheel, then switch it back on before the audience sees it.
Is a mystery wheel fair for giveaways?
The selection itself is random and unaffected by the labels being hidden. If you need the draw to be verifiable, run it with labels visible or save the wheel so the entrant list can be checked afterwards.
