Date Picker Wheel – Random Date & Activity Generator
Spin to pick random dates, plan anniversary surprises, or let chance decide your weekend schedule.
A random date picker for plans, not just numbers
A date is an awkward thing to choose. There are three hundred and sixty-five of them, most are inconvenient, and the group chat will not converge. This wheel narrows the field to the dates that are actually possible — the next few weekends, the free evenings this month — and picks one. You get a decision instead of another round of "when works for you?"
Three ways people use it
- **Scheduling something nobody will pin down.** Load the candidate dates, spin once, and the plan has a date. It is harder to object to a visible spin than to one person proposing a time.
- **Date nights.** Spin for which evening, then spin again for what to do with it. Two decisions, ten seconds.
- **Breaking a routine.** Load the days of the week or the weekends in a month to stop defaulting to the same one every time.
How to set it up
- Open the editor and replace the segments with the dates or days that are genuinely available. Use text like "Fri 14th" or just "This Friday" — the wheel does not need a machine-readable date.
- Add as many candidate dates as you want to keep in play. Fewer options make the spin feel more decisive.
- Spin. The result is one date, decided in front of whoever is present.
- If the result is genuinely impossible, remove it and spin again — that is a real constraint, not a reroll for preference.
- Save the wheel if you schedule the same way regularly, such as a weekly slot for a group.
Why a wheel beats a poll
A poll lets everyone express a preference, which is valuable when the choice matters and useless when it does not. If four dates are all acceptable, a poll produces four votes and no decision. A wheel produces a decision immediately. The distinction is whether you are gathering information or breaking a tie — and most scheduling arguments are ties.
How the date is chosen
The result is picked before the wheel moves: a random angle is drawn from your browser's cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), and the wheel animates to it. Every date you load is equally likely. The draw happens in your browser, not on our server, and a result cannot be influenced by how or when you spin.
What it is not
This is a picker, not a calendar. It does not know who is free, does not check availability and does not sync anywhere. You decide which dates are viable; the wheel decides which of those viable dates you take. That separation is deliberate — the tool has no business guessing your schedule.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the date picker wheel work?
You load the dates or days that are possible into the wheel, then spin. The wheel lands on one at random and that becomes the chosen date.
Does it check my calendar?
No. It has no access to your calendar and does not know anyone's availability. You choose which dates are viable and the wheel picks between them.
Can I pick days of the week instead of dates?
Yes. Load "Monday" through "Sunday" as the segments, or just the weekends, or any subset you like. The wheel does not care whether the labels are dates or days.
Can I remove a date that comes up?
Yes — remove the winner after a spin and it will not appear again. That is useful when the chosen date turns out to be impossible for a real reason.
